Plot: Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgun), lives a happy with his wife Nandini (Shriya Saran) and two daughters Anu (Ishita Dutta) and Anju (Mrinal Jadhav). That is until, teenaged Anu meets spoiled brat Sameer Deshmukh (Risabh Chaddha), at an inter-school nature camp. Unknown to Anu, Sameer captures makes her video in shower and tries to blackmail her with the same on returning back home. A war of words ensues between Anu and Sameer, ending in a tragedy. This leads to the Slagaonkar family coming face to face with IG Meera Deshmukh (Tabu), who happens to be the mother of Sameer.
Critic’s Review: Drishyam received generally positive reviews from the critics and was claimed to be a powerful emotional thriller that is based on a well-written script. The critics also liked the fact that it addresses a serious issue without a lot of drama and hysteria that makes it quite realistic. The movie got an average rating of 4 stars from major critics.
Cast and Direction: Director Nishikant Kamat needs to be applauded for having the courage and the confidence to recreate the magic of a hit movie that has already been made in two languages. The power packed performances of the entire star cast add to the credibility of the movie which has the right pace and thrill.
