Will The BFG or Big Friendly Giant be able to befriend the audiences?

Sophie is a ten-year old orphan girl. Innocence on her face shows her ignorance about the outside world. She takes everybody as a friend and her attitude changed heart of the giant. The giant first snatched Sophie and then becomes her friend. The elderly giant is a kindhearted beast and an outcast for others that are man-eaters.

The BFG is the big friendly giant and a friend of children. He takes Sophie to his homeland and also tells her about the other giants that are always hunting human especially children. The friendly giant takes Sophie to dreamland to catch dreams and on the way; he encounters his fellow unfriendly giants. A fight ensues between BFG and others but BFG cleverly saves Sophie. Worried about other children, Sophie advises BFG to capture the giants for safety of children.

Fleshlumpeater, the biggest and the most fearful of the all giants, is the leader of the man-eating giants. He suspects that the BFG is saving Sophie and it was he who led the attack on BFG to catch Sophie. The man-eating giants are shown shouting all the time and their appearance is quite fearful especially for children.

Fleshlumpeater is always attacking the human world and there is no one that can stop these giant creatures. But Sophie and her friend the BFG are determined to stop the killings. What happens next is a thing to be seen. How a small innocent girl and a giant that doesn’t kill stop the giants that are more fearful than the BFG. It is a fantasy film adventure film based on a novel. And it is the second time that the novel is filmed.

Written by Robert Dahl, the novel The BFG was first shown as an animated film in 1989 and the second time, it is Steven Spielberg taking the challenge of presenting the novel in a more interesting manner. Casts are selected carefully to match the characters and the story is woven in a different manner to make it more interesting.

Why watch the movie?

Its premier at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival was a huge success. It got man positive reviews from critics. The story is interesting and the direction by Steven Spielberg made it more entertaining. Children will like this movie as it is a child centric film and adults will also appreciate the story and presentation. Experts are expecting that the movie will earn from $22 to $32 in the first week.
