The Lost City of Z: Would the movie show evidences of the lost city or it will revolve around the life of Colonel Percy Fawcett?

Story of The Lost City of Z is based on the story of Percy Fawcett, who’s an artillery officer in British army, geographer, cartographer, archaeologist and explorer. He was on his way to find a lost city in Amazon and it is said that he had evidences that indicate towards presence of a much advanced civilization in Amazon. But Fawcett was mysteriously disappeared along with his elder son in 1925 while he’s working on his expedition.

He named the city he was looking for “Z”. In movie, Charlie Hunnam is playing Colonel Percy Fawcett. He was so determined that he didn’t worried about all the sarcastic remarks and negative comments made by intellectual and scientific community. They all were ridiculing Percy for his expedition that yielded no result. The only thing that was in the favor of Percy was his family and financers who believed on his theory of existence of a city.

The fateful expedition in which Percy lost his life was started on 20 April 1925 and the incident occurred after 29 May 1925 when Percy wrote a letter to his beloved wife. He wrote that he was ready to step into the unexplored territory to find the lost city. What happened to him is never known. Several rescue missions were sent to search Percy and his son but none of the missions was successful. On the contrary, some rescuers met the same fate that Percy did.

The movie is actually the story of Percy Fawcett and his expedition. It is like searching the lost city Percy named Z. David Grann, an American journalist, also authored book of the same name and now the movie. The movie is based on the book and it can be said that it is an attempt to recognize the work done by Percy Fawcett.

The movie is based on the life and expeditions of British army officer and explorer Colonel Percy Fawcett. The poster has mark of Percy and the Amazon where he was searching the lost city Z is in the background. The poster wears a deserted look as Percy is shown alone sitting on his ankles and staring at oblivion. He has his backpack held firmly on his back and he is holding his hat in hands. He seems worried but confident. It is a very beautiful poster that shows seriousness of the movie and the subject that the movie explores.

Why watch the movie?

It is an expedition with a sad end but it is worth watching. You might have learned about Colonel Percy Fawcett through newspapers and magazines but if you want to see him in action then you should watch the movie.
