War for the Planet of the Apes Movie

War for the Planet of the Apes: Personal between Caesar and Colonel turned into War

War for the Planet of the Apeswill be reviewed with other two installments – Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Dawn of the Planet of Apes (2014).But the actual story starts with the making of Planet of the Apes in 1968. The first movie was a blockbuster that started a series of TV episodes and also inspired may comics and novels. The new found talking monkeys of the 1968 movie are now doing brisk business on the silver screen.

It’s a personal war

If asked about the name, I would say that it doesn’t suit to the story. There is no War for the Plant of the Apes but it’s a struggle. The war concluded with Dawn of the Planet of Apes. The new movie starts with the notorious colonel of the human army attacking the shelter of Apes and killing the family of Caesar. Shocked Caesar decides to fight back with a couple of courageous apes. I find that Caesar’s portray as a protagonist is more human that the species, he belongs to. Serkis really did a good job in all the three installments and also he deserves an Academy Award (Fox pushed his name for the award in 2011). I hope Academy recognizes his work.

Rise, Dawn and then War

It is a story of long drawn battle between human and apes. It starts with the Apes taking control of the planet from human and then they see their demise. The War is a power word that shows that both the species are still tracking each-other and waiting for right moment to strike. But in reality, the apes were going to a safe haven when they are attacked and killed. They aren’t war ready and for this reason Caesar took only a handful of companions to teach the colonel a lesson.

War for the Planet of the Apes First Look & Poster

The poster has Andy Serkis in the disguise of Caesar and the dumb girl that he took along while going to confront the general. He’s riding a horse and the girl is tied on his back. He seems worried and war ready. The girl is holding his back and trying to look ahead from the robust body of Caesar. The background is made of snow and the movie name is written with red color on the bottom.

Why watch the movie?

If you’ve watched the earlier installments of the Apes movie then you will certainly want to see the conclusion or prequel to the fourth installment. It is an ongoing saga of two mighty species – one trying to overpower other. Seeing Serkis is another reason to watch the movie. He could to Academy Award this time.
