Inspired by the life of rappers, Gully Boy celebrates the life of rappers on the streets of Mumbai. Ranveer Singh is seen learning hip-hop in Mumbai streets. He belongs to the economically weaker section of the society and this is evident from his lifestyle, living conditions and expectation of his parents. His struggle is visible in his attitude towards his street friends, studies and family.

Alia Bhatt enters the scene like a cool girl and goes on straight into the arms of Ranveer Singh. She’s studying medical science is revealed during her conversation with Ranveer’s mom. Vijay Raaz is playing Raveer’s father who’s always demanding from his son. He wants Ranveer to focus on his studies and he beats Ranveer up for not paying heed to his advice. But a determined Ranveer goes on to become a rapper of highest echelon and he fulfills his dream in the end of the trailer.
