Sarabjit: Story of a sister fighting with system to save her brother in an enemy country

Story of Sarabjit’s fall into Pakistani jail on charges of espionage and terrorism and his brutal killing inside the jail by fellow inmates will never fade away from the minds of Indians. There is little doubt that the movie on Sarabjit will get a huge response but the audiences will try seeing behind the scenes. They’ll look for the truth behind his conviction and death. Could director Omung Kumar narrate the story of Sarabjit and could the protagonist live the painful life of Sarabjit and his sister Dalbir Kaur.

Sarabjit Singh was a humble farmer of Bhikiwind village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab, India. His village lies close to Indo-Pak border. One day he found himself in the hands of Pakistani Rangers near Kasur. He was in an inebriated state but was taken as a spy and tried for terrorism. For 23 years, his sister Dalbir Kaur ran from pillar to post to save his life. He also get support from some quarters in Pakistan but nothing could save his life and finally he was killed in a brutal attack by his fellow inmates. He died on May 2, 2013 in the Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.

Randeep Hooda is playing Sarbjit in the movie and Aishwarya Rai is his sister in the movie. How much justice the protagonists will be able to do with their roles is thing to see in the coming days but the movie is an opportunity to see the pain Sarabjit went through during his jail term. The movie shows real inside life of Pakistani jail.

Why watch the movie?

It is the story of Sarabjit for whom the entire country was praying and whom everyone wanted to come back to India but he didn’t and only his dead body arrived. The film relives the pain and suffering the entire country went through the Sarabjit and his sister Dalbir Kaur. It isn’t a movie but a book and seeing the moving Sarabjit is like reading a book on him.
