Toilet Ek Prem Katha: One step towards Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

After the veteran actor Manoj Kumar, Akshay Kumar deserves the title of Patriotic Hero. He has been making movies on topics of national and international interest and his pictures are also getting a thumping response from the public. Akshay’s latest movie Toilet Ek Prem Katha movie is also based Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The offer came to Akshay after doing rounds for four years in the industry and declined by actors Akshay doesn’t want to name. He was quick to understand value of the project and he accepted the offer without even giving a second thought to the script. Akshay wonders how modest village women get the courage to divorce their spouses just because they don’t have access to toilets. On the question of competition with SRK’s Jab Harry Met Sejal, he said that Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is made with a small budget of Rs. 18 crore while the budget of Jab Harry Met Sejal is made is around Rs. 80 crore.

The most outstanding film of the year

It is a like any other traditional marriage between a village boy and girl. Both the families are happy especially the groom but the bride looking at the other way. She’s something in her mind and that is toilet. After going to her new home, she asks about toilet but gets unsatisfactory answer. Groom and his family believe in open defecation but the bride is against this unhygienic practice.

The bride decides to leave groom’s home. Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar have done a marvelous job as bride and groom. Akshay Kumar runs after his bride to bring her back on the promise that he’ll build a toilet. Also he promises to encourage others to stop the practicing open defecation. It is a romantic comedy based on a true story.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha First Look & Poster

The poster wears a rural look. It has bride and groom posing for a wedding photograph before their home decorated with garlands. The garlanded main door of the home is visible in the background. Dark yellow color is used to create the background. Rural homes use earth instead of wall paints and for this reason these homes look pale yellow. The yellow color gives the feel of a rural home. Name of the movie is written in both Hindi and English language.

Why watch the movie?

It’s a fresh story from rural India where some brides took the extreme step of divorcing their spouses for not providing toilet facility at home. You could have read such stories on newspaper reports but now you can see the story on big screen with Akshay Kumar playing rural groom.
